How to Register an Tell A Bot Account for SMS Verification

We designed the registration process to be as simple and straightforward as possible. In most cases, creating an account only takes a few minutes. However, there are still a few important details worth explaining.

Why Is Email Required?

We do respect user privacy, and you are not required to provide personal information such as your real name or a phone number. However, a valid email address is mandatory because certain important account actions require confirmation, including:

  • changing your password
  • changing your account email
  • generating or resetting an API key

This helps us ensure that only the real owner of the account can perform sensitive actions.

I Did Not Receive the Email Confirmation Link

First, try requesting another confirmation email.

You cannot register the same email twice, but you can use the "Reset password" option to trigger another confirmation message.

Some email providers may block or silently reject automated emails related to SMS verification platforms. In our experience, Gmail tends to work reliably, so using a Gmail address is recommended if you experience delivery issues.

Also make sure to check:

  • SPAM or Junk folders
  • email filtering rules, you may have something in place that deletes our messages

Why Do I Need to Enter an IM Handle?

Some users prefer not to provide their real instant messenger handle, and that is completely understandable. The IM field is not strictly verified.

Still, it is recommended to provide a working Telegram, Discord, or other messenger account. In rare situations, this gives us an additional way to contact you regarding your account, API access, or SMS verification issues.

Why Am I Seeing a Different Brand Name, Not Tell A Bot?

This is completely normal. We have platforms offering SMS verification operate as resellers using their own branding and domains. Under the hood, they still use the same backend infrastructure.

If you registered through a reseller platform, you can use the same username and password at Tell A Bot.

Can I Use Free Numbers Without Registration?

Some free numbers for SMS may be visible publicly on the Free SMS section of the web site. However, registration is required if you want to:

  • access private numbers
  • receive one-time code messages reliably
  • use API access

Private numbers offer much better delivery rates than public free numbers. Please read a post about free SMS numbers and their limitations.

Final Notes

Whether you need SMS verification for Telegram, WhatsApp, Gmail, social media, marketplaces, or other online services, registration is quick and requires minimal information. We made this short video that shows how to register at Tell A Bot, please watch it.

Looking forward to seeing you on board. 😉
